Waste to Wealth

Empowering Communities Through Recycling, Composting, and Green Job Creation

The “Turning Waste into Wealth” program is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing waste management challenges while creating sustainable economic opportunities—particularly for youth and women. By promoting community-based recycling, composting, and circular economy practices, the program reimagines waste not as a burden, but as a valuable resource that can drive environmental sustainability and inclusive livelihoods.

How it Works

Residents are trained and equipped to separate waste at source—plastics, metals, paper, glass—and deliver recyclables to collection points. Small-scale recycling hubs are set up to process materials into products such as eco-bricks, reusable packaging, handicrafts, sandals or construction panels.

Key Innovation

The key innovation of this program is its focus on green job creation for youth and women. Participants receive technical training in waste handling, sorting, recycling innovation, compost production, and small business management.

This program emphasizes behavior change, community participation, and partnerships. Schools, local authorities, NGOs, and private sector actors are engaged to create a supportive ecosystem for sustainable waste management. Public campaigns and school clubs raise awareness on waste reduction, reuse culture, and the economic potential of circular practices.
